Being very highly technical and perplexing for many it is not clear how IOT works. The IOT refers to the physical devices that are interconnected to each other and are eligible to exchange information between them. Four preliminary steps are given below to describe how IOT works.

1. Sensors/Devices: Firstly, data is collected from the environment by the physical devices. Devices can have multiple sensors that can do more than just sense things. For instance, phone is a device that has multiple sensors such as GPS, Camera and many more

2. Connectivity: Then the gathered data is sent to the cloud through the media such as cellular networks, satellite networks, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a lot more.

3. Data Processing:  Once the data is collected and stored in the cloud, it is deeply analysed and processed securely. This analysis and processing can be either as simple as measuring weather or as complex as checking and identifying intruder in a house. However, this processed data performs immediate actions that turn our simple physical devices into a smart object.

4. User interface: The last step involves with the notifying user about the actions over email, text notification, auto speech or an alert.
