How SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) Works To Grow Your Business

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is a common word used for digital marketing and in essence to help organic search for your website. First of all, there is no easy way to get your ranking. You have a choice, you can pay for PPC or start building the organic growth known as SEO. You have to remember that your competitors are trying to be on page 1 just like you, so competition will always be high. We know that Google is the most popular search engine that everyone uses but sometimes your customers may use other search engines. They may like Bing, Yahoo, etc, so don’t be negligent in those search engines.

When we discuss matters with our Clients, they tend to believe SEO can be done with immediate effect. There is a lot of misconception in the market, we know that and we hope you would find this page useful. Getting someone who knows how to work SEO is important. You could be wasting valuable time and creating a negative impact on your website without knowing. That is simply the common fault we see.

At Tech ICS, we believe in trust and want to create long-term relationships with our clients. All our work is transparent, so you will always receive a monthly report to see your progression.

Why is SEO important for my website?

First of all, you need to have your customers find you online, that is where everyone goes to check up a business and if you cannot be found, it would knock off a customer's confidence in your business. There is a level of expectation from a customer's point of view to be available online. The simple search would be under your business name and like everyone, we would expect you to be there. Moving to social media, it is great to be on it but most of the time, you can actually pull traffic somewhere else. Think about what is the best way of communicating with your customers. Far too many of our Clients push them into social media and they tend to forget about their website.

A good website to help with your SEO

A simple but easy website, with responsiveness, is an essential part of having a good website, which then helps your SEO. Building a strong site map or architecture and providing clear navigation will help search engines index your site quickly and easily. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) can also be great when you have a website with fewer errors and bounce rates.

Google, Bing, Yahoo, will move your website up based on how well the "usability" of your website is. Usability means user-centered design. Both the design and development process is focused around the prospective user, to make sure their goals, mental models, and requirements are met, to build products that are efficient and easy to use.

Search Engines and SEO

All search engines are there, also referred to as the knowledgebase, to serve their customers. So your content must be relevant to the customer. It needs to serve the purpose of being found. Google and other search engines use algorithms to check the contents, its relevance, and how best it can serve their customers, and show website contents that would serve that purpose. That means, your content must be accurate, relevant and to the requirements of the end-user, that is the person using the search engine.

We know that there are some competitors who use disruptive wordings to get ranking better. Like these and many "cheat" systems, impacts all the SEO work you do. In the short term, it may pull your site up, but the search engines will start marking your site as spam, so it's difficult to bring that up. It takes a long time before your domain becomes trusted. Be careful of those who tell you that they will get you to page 1 ranking.

You must appreciate that search engines will change their ways of working, and your SEO work will always be impacted. You simply have to continue building and using various channels to get your site better ranked.

The technical aspect of your SEO

Your website must be free from errors, security issues and must comply with local legislation. There are a lot of free tools out there to check your website's technical issues. Whilst those free tools do help, you will have to purchase tools to check your website's technical errors. There is no room for errors because this is the most common issue we find in SEO work.

The website speed is also important. It can be from your hosting to your website to the contents and images. You also need to check that your website works well on various screens/browsers. Usually, we advise that you work on one page at a time, checking everything from contents to images to internal linking to name some of those. For example, if you have an email address, make sure it is linked as an email, so your customers can simply click on it and it would open their emails.

Whilst you may find this is a small issue, search engines check those because if they take their customers to your website, they want to make sure they find what they are looking for. So please be careful when building links into your website, make sure they work first and link up.

Building your domain authority with SEO

We know that this is the most difficult part of SEO work. This is because, first of all, new domains will impact your SEO. Then you need to start building the domain authority and that is through a number of ways. For example, use enhanced SSL for your website domain. This will improve a customer's confidence in the domain. We know there are free SSL's, try avoiding those because they don’t have the security they should do and there is no correct certificate provided. Building authority outside of your domain is also important.

Content building & imagery

Meta descriptions, header, and title tags are the basic requirements when building a page or blog. It needs to be simple, to the content you are building, as this helps your page ranking. You should use a few accurate keywords describing the page. Only use relevant keywords though, and the most important thing to consider is that although you are formatting for search engines, you should write for humans.

Now to the images, make sure they are of good quality, do not take too much space on the page, is not large in size, and should be labeled to what the contents you have written. This is a common issue we find whenever a page is looked into. It can slow your page down, so make sure the images do not impact the page loading time.
